High praise at TSU homecoming gospel concert

TSU Homecoming Gospel Explosion, performances by Pastor Mike Jr., Deitrick Haddon, and Earnest Pugh. New Direction Choir hit the stage with Big New D Energy!

There is no other way to kick off homecoming than starting with the TSU Homecoming Gospel Explosion. This year is no different as Gentry is filled with praise. This Sunday, Students come out to fellowship and worship before entering the homecoming week.

At this year’s Homecoming Gospel Explosion, we saw performances by Pastor Mike Jr., Deitrick Haddon, and Earnest Pugh. In addition, The New Direction Gospel Choir hit the stage with some Big New D Energy! We spoke to Timbrel Williams, a member of the New Direction Gospel Choir, about her experience along with the importance of this event.

“I love the choir! I love that I am able to display my talents during homecoming. I have enjoyed the past
four years being able to sing and uplift other students. It is a moment that everyone should experience
including all students, staff, and faculty.”

She goes on to talk about the importance of her involvement within the Gospel Explosion as a senior at
TSU.

“With this being my last year here, being able to be apart of this moment is special to me. This event
sets the mood for homecoming and brings all of us together through praise and worship.”

All of the performers give messages to the students, encouraging success and praying for their journey
here at TSU. Our very own Dr. Glenda Glover is in attendance, enjoying all the performances and
student engagements. Be sure to check out the list of more homecoming events available on Instagram
